Best beaches in Castelldefels: complete guide 2026
Discover Castelldefels' 5 km of beach: from family-friendly areas to the quietest spots. Guide with photos, access points and local tips.
5 kilometres of golden sand, 20 minutes from Barcelona
Castelldefels has something very few towns near Barcelona can offer: 5 uninterrupted kilometres of fine sand beach. From the port area to the border with Gavà, the coastline stretches in a wide, uncrowded strip that has nothing to do with Barceloneta.
If you're planning a holiday on the Catalan coast, Castelldefels beach is one of the best possible destinations. In this guide we tell you everything you need to know to make the most of it.
Pineda area: families' favourite
The Pineda de Castelldefels area is closest to the town centre. With a renovated promenade, public showers, children's play areas and accessible beach bars, it's the perfect spot for families with young children.
The water is calm and depth increases gradually, making it one of the safest beaches in the area. Lifeguards are present throughout the summer season (June to September).
Available services
- Free showers and foot wash stations
- Beach bars with lunch menus from €12
- Sun lounger and parasol rental
- Nearby parking (some areas free off-season)
- Accessible entry for people with reduced mobility
Lluminetes Beach: the perfect balance
A little further south, Lluminetes beach offers the ideal balance between services and tranquillity. It's less crowded than Pineda but still has beach bars and easy access.
This area is especially popular among couples and groups of friends looking for a relaxed atmosphere without giving up beachfront dining.
Baixador Beach: for those who want space
If you like to spread out your towel without neighbours half a metre away, Baixador beach is your spot. It's the widest and least frequented area of Castelldefels, ideal for beach sports like volleyball, paddle surfing or simply walking along the shore.
Water sports and activities
Castelldefels beach isn't just for sunbathing. The area is a hotspot for water sports:
- Kitesurfing and windsurfing — the southern zone has consistent wind from April to October
- Stand-up paddle (SUP) — rental available at several beach bars
- Kayaking — guided tours along the coast to Garraf
- Beach volleyball — permanent courts in the Pineda area
How to get to the beach from your apartment
Most of our apartments in Castelldefels are less than 10 minutes' walk from the beach. Some have direct access to the promenade.
If your apartment is in the centre or golf area, the L95 bus connects to the beach in 5 minutes, running every 15 minutes in summer.
Local tips for enjoying the beach
- Avoid peak hours: 12pm to 4pm in July and August can be busy in the Pineda area. After 5pm the beach empties and the light is spectacular.
- Sunset: Castelldefels has incredible sunsets. The best views are from the southern area, looking towards Garraf.
- Off season: from October to May the beach is virtually empty. Perfect for long walks and photos.
- Year-round beach bars: some like Boo Beach and Vaivén are open 12 months a year.
